Eli-isms

Another non-picture post, but I have to get some of these things Eli has been saying written down somewhere because they are so so good. Here are a few of my favorites:

****

On the way to church yesterday we were talking about things we are thankful for.

Eli: I'm thankful for houses, and flowers, and mailboxes. Oh, and dinosaur Jesus.

Me: What's dinosaur Jesus?

Eli: Oh, you know, just dinosaur Jesus.

***

During the sacrament part of church, right after he took the bread off the tray, Eli stood up on the bench and said, in a loud voice, "Thank you Jesus!". I was really touched by that one.

***

The other day we were driving around running errands. Eli is obsessed with his birthday and wishes it could be every day. As we were bumping along, he started listing off things he would want if his birthday were imminent.

Eli: I want a lot of things, but mostly I want a knife jacket.

Me: What's a knife jacket?

Eli: A jacket that's a knife, you know Mom?

Me: I do not know.

***

Whenever someone asks Eli how he's doing he always replies, "Pretty good".

***

His new (and sort of endearing) thing to do whenever he's in trouble is to scream, "NOT AGAIN!!! NOT AGAIN!!!". Tonight he hit Sammy and I told him to go to timeout. "NOT AGAIN!!!" It's said with such desperation. The phrase is starting to work it's way into other areas of his life. Whenever I go to put lotion on him (a punishment worse than death) he screams "NOT AGAIN MAMA!". It sort of breaks my heart in a hilarious sort of way.

***

He is way in to discipling Sammy. The other day Sammy was yelling in the car and Eli said, "SIR! You do NOT yell in the car. You will go to timeout!" It was a little horrifying to hear my own words yelled by my 3 year old at my 1 year old.

***

Today Dan told Eli to "hang tight" while they were waiting in line at the store. Eli replied, "Dad, I'm already hanging tight!"

Preschool Graduation (Take One)

Last Thursday was Eli's preschool graduation. Because I put him in school at an early age and because he is a fall birthday, he will have 2 more graduations before he actually heads to Kindergarten. Nonetheless, still a momentous occasion for sure. He LOVED preschool. His teacher was fantastic and he was so excited to go every day. He will miss school so much over the summer.

Florida Trip 3

Here are a smattering of pictures that just need to go up. Most are from in and around the lodge.
There's a bouncy house? WHAT?!

Its not child abuse if they ask you to build them a small, enclosed house the can't get out of.

Everyone left at different times. We lingered in Inverness the longest and went swimming one last time in the lake (I have no idea what it's name is). I love this lake. Warm and perfect.

For dinner we decided to eat with the locals.

I got fried everything. It was so heavenly.

A morning run around the property.

Oh Florida I miss you already.

Friday afternoon we met up with my cousin Gianna and her kids down at the air force base in Tampa where her husband is stationed. It was so great to see her! Eli loved being on base and seeing all the airplanes.

Hot tub!

There was an actual gun range on the property but I was little wary of Eli being around actual firearms (I'm a real buzz kill). Dan, being amazing, set up a nerf range on the patio. It was epic. There's little Lincoln with his hat on. Love!

Florida Trip 2

We had a hard time deciding if we should go to a theme park while we were there and which one to go to if we did. On one hand, we were there and why not...on the other hand $$$$ and more $$$. But we finally let the euphoria of fake vacation spending take over and headed our to Universal Studios Islands of Adventure wednesday. I'm so so glad we did. We all had a blast. I was amazed at how well the kids did and how much they loved everything. Harry Potter land has been on my list for a while and it didn't disappoint. The butter beer was everything I had hoped for and more.

In front of the Hogwarts Express.

Hogsmeade!

Carousels!

Dan!

My favorite picture ever of Dan and Sammy. Such handsome men I have.

Little family on the way out. The kids were sort of done by now.

Trip to Florida Part 1

We just got home from Florida and I have to blog now or it won't get done. It was truly one of the best trips we've ever taken. We met up with our friends Matt and Julie and their gorgeous little boy Lincoln, and Julie's sister Corinne and her husband Preston in Tampa and hit the ground running.

Our boys loved every minute of it. Even though their schedules got a little wonky, they held things together pretty well and just loved going along for the ride. Be prepared for lots of pictures. I don't keep a journal anymore so this is it!

The first day we headed out to Clearwater beach. I've never seen sand so white! Love.

85 degrees and lots of sun. Perfect for me!

They had to wash their sandy buns off.

Eli LOVES the water.

Look how clear!

He won't pose.

HORSES! This is our first day at the lodge where we stayed. It is heaven on earth. About 1.5 hours north of Tampa, this place is serious kid paradise.

Eli on a horse. Blurry pic. I dropped my phone in the ocean and some of my pics didn't auto upload right. Darnitall.

Preston find a turtle!

Sunday we headed to the lake and had such an amazing day. Me, Julie and Corinne.

Same. Love these two sisters!

Our little fam.

My favorite thing ever.

They dig it.

The lake.

BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!
